Average gap to pole in the Formula 2 2020 Champioship

The graph below shows the breakdown of the qualifying in Formula relative to the overall pole times (100%) at each race. The reason for using a percentage gap to pole in to ensure that the contribution of pace differences at each track is at least accounted for in the standard mean equation.

It is well known that tracks such as the Red Bull Ring tend to close the pack, due to a low number of corners plus long straights relative to tracks such the Hungaroring, which has 14 corners and requires a lot of driver skill+car setup to successfully traverse those corners and get a good laptime.

Here we see Ilott as the best qualifier, he scored 5 pole positions. Tsunoda scored 4 but did not participate in qualifying at one race.

Introduction to this Blog

Hello Reader, this blog is designed to present data on the FIA formula feeder series races, such a race pace, and qualifying pace. As well as teammate battles, average qualifying positions and average finishing positions in races. It is interesting as there exists plenty of data on formula 1 races and sessions as it is most popular. This blog, therefore, serves to present data for the feeder series in a similar fashion for those willing and interested to consume.
